Today was a brand new day. You know what that meant? A new expedition. Mattis was wandering around Lilycove, Route 124 calling his name.

Except he walked without the company of Arkose by his side.

He'd typically have the wolf Pokemon with him, but he decided to give him a rest. Plus, it gave him some time to just spend time alone. Because that dog was so expressive, and if he knew any better, Mattie would say he was judging him constantly.

So, if he needed him, he'd bring him out.

Mattis was intercepted by a Seismitoad, who was definitely very interesting-looking. He seemed like he'd be cool to have...

But he wasn't what Mattis was out to get.

So, he made his way around the Pokemon, trying to keep his distance to avoid engagement and confrontation because he knew his rock types were weak to this specific one.
